In 2023, Dublin City Schools announced a collaboration with Planning NEXT, a strategic planning expert, for the “Focus on the Future: Exploring High School Capacity Solutions” project. This project was created to address the anticipated growth and capacity constraints within our existing high school facilities.
A Share Your Voice campaign was launched to gather community members interested in participating in focus group sessions. The input from these focus groups would play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our high school facilities.
In May of 2024, 23 focus groups were convened, engaging over 180 stakeholders. These community members provided insight and feedback on options to ensure DCS understands the perspective of the many people affected by this decision.
How Did We Get Here?
6 High School Options were presented to the Focus Groups:
Construct a 4th high school on purchased land elsewhere.
Construct a 4th high school on district-owned land on Mitchell Dewitt Rd.
Purchase Cardinal Health West Campus and Convert to a 4th high school.
Add on to Scioto high school and have 3 large high schools.
Purchase Cardinal Health West Campus and convert to a freshman building.
Purchase Cardinal Health West Campus and convert it to an early college campus
Based on the results of the focus groups, as well as survey results from parents and community members, the decision was made to add on to Scioto High School.
